Children Can Teach Themselves

I am fascinated by Mitra’s Hole in the Wall project and it’s implications for student centered group learning. He concludes that the greatest impact of educational technology can be seen in the poorest most educationally neglected areas.  That may be true but he has never placed a hole in the wall in a developed country.  If he had he might observe what I have observed over the three weeks my 3rd grade students have been hyper engaged in studying the range of features found on the xo, OLPC laptops that arrived at the start of this school year.  See what you think about Mitra’s study and data collected over a decade of experimentation.
